Anarchist Salon

David Corbet and Tom Nicholson
with Alex Rizkalla, Julie Davies, Shelley Marshall, Najla
1 April 2003.

A one-night event, including meal for 70 people, and a collaborative video-sound work by Tom Nicholson and David Corbet: looped DVDs on five monitors, one projector; twenty-five sets of aeroplane headphones, sound.

Melbourne based composer David Corbet responded to video material generated by five banner marches undertaken by Nicholson in Berlin in October 2002.  For music, click here.

The same video footage from the Berlin banner marches was exhibited in Documents after five actions, a site specific installation in Berlin, at the Kapelle der Versöhnung, 8-22 November 2002, and in the solo exhibition, Melancholia (Documents after five actions, Berlin), Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne, 7 February-1 March 2003.

The Berlin banner marches led to the development of Marches for another season, an ongoing project of banner marches in Australia initiated in 2003.
